Located in lush countryside overlooking the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath in the South West of England, the University of Bath is a leading higher education and research institution specialising in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Founded in 1966, the University was ahead of its time in offering industry-based placements with the majority of its degrees. This focus on courses with real-world relevance built in remains at the heart of what we offer and is reflected in our UK top 10 ranking for graduate prospects.  

We are an active research university. Our teaching staff are leading experts in their subject areas with connections in industry, professional bodies, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) around the world. They use their industry links, research, and discoveries to make sure our students are taught the most up-to-date topics.

The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF 2023) awarded us Gold for the overall assessment as well as the two underpinning assessments of student experience and student outcomes.

92% of University of Bath research submitted to the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021) achieved the two highest classifications of ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.

What’s on campus

Bars, cafes and restaurants

We have eight cafes and restaurants offering a wide range of meals, snacks, and drinks to appeal to a variety of tastes, budgets, and dietary preferences.

Our Students’ Union, is home to The Plug and Tub, our bar and entertainment venue.   

Shops and services

We have two supermarkets, a hair salon with a range of visiting stylists for all types of hair, a post office, and a purpose-built arts hub (The Edge).

Sports Training Village

Our renowned, fully-accessible £35 million Team Bath Sports Training Village (STV) is a world-class multi-sport training environment with fitness, coaching, physio, and sport science facilities all under one roof. The STV has indoor and outdoor facilities to accommodate more than 50 sports, regularly hosts major international competitions such as the Fed Cup tennis and Modern Pentathlon World Championships, and is a training venue for Olympic, Paralympic, and World medallists.

Bath Skyline walk

Our campus is located in countryside on the edge of the historical Georgian city of Bath. Just minutes from the campus you can join the circular Skyline walk, which offers beautiful perspectives of the city from its tree-lined hills.    

Faith and spirituality

Our multi-faith chaplaincy offers support and care, space and prayer in the heart of the campus, and is home to several faith societies.

DETAILS REGARDING COLLABORATION WITH THAI UNIVERSITY AND ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS 

  • The University of Bath has a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thammasat University in Thailand. This agreement likely outlines areas of cooperation, which may include:
    • An educational partnership enabling Thammasat students to conduct research projects and pursue postgraduate studies at the University of BathJoint research initiatives
